The Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (Deemed
University), Pune invites applications for various Faculty Positions in the
departments of Applied  Physics,  Applied Chemistry and Materials
Engineering.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT OF TEACHING FACULTY :
(For Applied Physics and Applied Chemistry)

i) Good academic record with at least 55% of the marks or
equivalent grade where grading system is practiced at
the Master’s degree level in a relevant subject from an
Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an
accredited foreign university. Preference will be given for
Ist Class Degree holders at Master’s ans/or Graduate
level.
ii) Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate
should have cleared the  National Eligibility Test (NET)
conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited
by the UGC like SLET/SET.
iii) Ph. Ds in appropriate field of Science & Humanities will
be given priority.
iv) NET/SLET/SET shall also not be required for such
Master Programmers in disciplines for which
NET/SLET/SET is not conducted.
2 Associate
Professor
i) Good academic record with a Ph. D. degree in the
concerned/allied/relevant disciplines.
ii) At least 55% marks, or equivalent grade wherever
grading system is followed at the Master’s degree level.
Preference will be given for Ist Class Degree holders at
Master’s and/or Graduate level.
iii) A minimum of five  years experience  of teaching and/or
research in an academic/research position equivalent to
that of Assistant Professor in a University/College or
Accredited Research Institution/Industry excluding the
period of Ph. D. research with evidence of published
work and a minimum of 5 publications as books and/or
research/published papers in indexed/ISBN/ISSN
numbered books/journals.

branch of Engg., & Tech.,  with a requirement to  obtain
the Ph. D. Degree within 7 years* from the date of
appointment to the post;
(* Failure to fulfill this requirement, shall entail the stoppage of
annual increments to the appointee, until such time that the Ph
D Degree is earned. It is expected that the institute shall
provide adequate opportunity to the appointee to fulfill this

experience of 5 years in teaching, research and / or
industry at the level of Lecturer/Assistant Professor or
equivalent grade, excluding period spent on obtaining the
research degree.

profession)
i) First Class Master’s Degree in the appropriate branch of
Engg., & Tech.
ii) Significant professional work which can be recognized*
as equivalent to a Ph.D. Degree in appropriate branch of
Engg., / Tech., and industrial /professional experience of
5 years in a position equivalent to the level of Lecturer/
Assistant Professor.

Application Form, application fee, recent passport size photograph and educational
qualifications including year of obtaining Ph. D., list of publications (with reprints of the best
papers), teaching/research experience, date of birth etc, along with the names and
addresses of  five referees and other testimonials in support of experience etc. should be
sent in a sealed cover super-scribed “Application for the post of ------------------------------------

GENERAL CONDITIONS/INFORMATION:
1. Incomplete applications will not be entertained by the Institute.
2. The Institute reserves the right to consider and to fill positions in any of the above
Specialization(s)/Department(s).
3. Candidates applying for more than  one post should submit separate online
application form for each post. The hard copy(s) of each online application(s) should
be accompanied by separate Demand Draft(s).
4. Candidates may also be considered for appointment on deputation for any of the
above posts from Defence Research & Development Organization, Indian Space

5. Reservation policy for SC, ST and OBC etc will be applicable as per UGC
norms/Govt. of India rules.  For availing reservation, the category certificate must be
submitted in prescribed format along with the application and should indicate whether
the candidate would like to be considered under the same.
6. Reservation for persons with physical disabilities shall be applicable as per Govt of
India rules subject to producing the Disability Certificate on the prescribed format
issued by the Competent Medical Board.

8. The date for determining the upper age limit, qualifications and/or experience shall be
the closing date prescribed for receipt of Online Electronics Application form i.e. 16
March 2012.
9. Mere fulfillment of the  above-mentioned qualifications  etc., does not entitle a
candidate to be called for interview.  Where number of applications received in
response to an advertisement is large, it may not be convenient or possible for the
Institute to interview all the candidates. The Institute may restrict the number of
candidates to be called for interview to a reasonable limit, on the basis of
qualifications and experience higher than that of the minimum prescribed in the
advertisement. The candidates should, therefore, furnish all the qualifications and
experience possessed in the relevant field, over and above the minimum
qualifications prescribed.
10. Candidates who are presently employed should submit their applications through
proper channel.
11. Relaxation in age, over and above the stipulated limit, educations qualification and/or
experience will only be considered in case of exceptionally meritorious candidates
with prior approval of the Competent Authority.
12. Both ways Sleeper Class Train fare is payable to outstation  unemployed candidates
belonging to SC/ ST category, invited for the Interview. Other Candidates will have to attend
the interview at his/her own cost, if called for personal interview.
                                 
13.  The last date for receipt of online applications is 16 March 2012. The hard copy of
the online application should reach us on or before  23 March 2012.  Applications
received after the due date is liable to be summarily rejected.
14. Application once made will not be allowed to withdrawn and fees once paid will NOT
be refunded on any count nor can it be held in reserve for any other recruitment or
selection process.
15. NO INTERIM INQUIRY OR CORRESPONDENCE WILL BE ENTERTAINED. The candidates
